If anyone is interested, here is how the area used to look: Path leading up, overgrown tracks + shell of a factory. It’s weird having photos of something that will soon no longer exist.

We planted some of the dogbane rhizomes that I pulled up into a corner of the yard, and others in a pot that will stay indoors over the winter. It is not a rare plant by any means, but it is hard to come by in the city.
